about

"Believing in the crucified Son means "seeing the Father," means believing that love is present in the world and that this love is more powerful than any kind of evil in which individuals, humanity, or the world are involved. Believing in this love means believing in mercy. For mercy is an indispensable dimension of love; it is as it were love's second name..."
- Pope St. John Paul iI, "Rich in Mercy"

lyrics

Love has a name,
hidden and wonderful,
lately it's on my mind.
In the middle of words, numbers and pictures,
and stories that crowd our times.
It'll wade into your water, it'll lean into your pain.
It'll meet you where you wander,
let it lead.
Let it lead through the night.
Tragedy stops only an inch away,
pulled from a brink you fought.
Trade in your lies that only disguise
any good that you could've sought.
It'll catch you as you're falling,
it'll take you to your knees.
It'll push you as you're stalling.
Let it lead....
Sung from the ruins; poverty's poem.
Heaven has worn flesh and bone.
Love is the cry we hear at the front line,
over and over again,
we sing over and over again.
It'll shake you from your doubting,
it'll cast out all your fear.
It'll get the angels shouting.
Let it lead,
let it lead through the night.

about

Miriam Marston Portland, Oregon

I started composing when I was 10. I called one of my first songs "Nostalgia", although I can't recall what my ten year old self was so nostalgic about. Recorded my first album in 2000, and I waited only ten years to release a second. Things got busy, but I never stopped writing. Even if it meant composing on a mostly-broken piano in a cold basement of a university that I wasn't even enrolled in. ... more
